There are many different opinions about working as a volunteer. Some might see it as a waste of time where others might view it as a philanthropic act. We have asked our panel members if they are working as volunteers and the results are quite interesting.

In Sweden 66 percent answer that they do not work as a volunteer and never have, which is twice as many as in Norway. Norway is, however, also the panel that has the highest number of current volunteers. In Finland 48 percent, and thus the second highest percentage, say that they do not and never have worked as a volunteer. On the other hand, the majority of the panel members that are planning on working as volunteers in the future are from Finland. 13 percent thus state that they are not currently working as volunteers, but planning to do so. In Sweden and Denmark 5 and 6 percent say the same thing.

If we look at people that are working as volunteers right now as well as the people that have worked as volunteers before, this goes for 58 percent of the panel members in both Denmark and Norway. The main difference between these two countries is that more than twice as many Norwegians than Danes are planning on volunteering in the future.

Due to the amount of Swedish panel members that are not currently working as volunteers, nor planning to do so, the percentage of Swedish panel members, who have previously worked as volunteers or are working as volunteers now is the lowest of all the panels with 28 percent.

In the picture below you are able to see the exact results from the quick poll with the question: "Are you working as a volunteer?"
